Description

Well, if you think of starting astrophotography in the Netherlands, think about it twice! We have not had a clear night in two months. Finally, when it comes, there is the Moon!  We have been waiting for a long time, but finally, our chance came. Some of the long-sought targets were just too close to the Moon, others were too low on the horizon for us, so we ended up shooting something that is rather small for our setup but was visible for several hours still (it is the end of the nebula season!). Actually, looking at the image it is bigger than we expected. Anyway, we decided to frame it a bit differently than usual.

The Beauty (upper-right corner): the Fossil Footprint Nebula. I didn't find much information about this emission nebula. It has a small but quite bright central region surrounded by an extended faint structure.  The Beast (lower-right corner): ok, not much of a beast, but still, a (sub)giant star of spectral type A. Lambda Persei overshines the Sun some 350 times.
