Description

Description (wikipedia)

The Ring Nebula (also catalogued as Messier 57M57 and NGC 6720) is a planetary nebula in the northern constellation of Lyra. Such a nebula is formed when a star, during the last stages of its evolution before becoming a white dwarf, expels a vast luminous envelope of ionized gas into the surrounding interstellar space.

Personal note

Especially the addition of H data showed the wider extent of the nebula with multiple rings around the core. I used some masking to do a phased stretching of the different parts of the rings and the Advanced Narrowband Combination by Charles Hagen to deduct the Red continuum from the H date and put it back in.

Processing

Chrominance: WBPP, autocrop, Graxpert, Linear Fit, RGB combination, Background Neutralisation, Photometric ColorCalibration, Deconvolution, Maskstretch, ArcsinhStretch, denoise, Local Histogram Transformation, curves, HDR-MT
Luminance: WBPP with 2xdrizzle, DBE, Deconvolution, denoise, Histogram Transformation, Curves, denoise, HDRM MST
H data: create HRR, color calibration, stretch, deduct red continuum, clip dark, put back in.
