Description

If M33 is too big for you imaging setup, try NGC2403! Its is similar to its bigger cousin with a similar viewing aspect and spiral structure with prominent pink HII regions, but its only 1/3 the size in the sky. Its an outlying member of the M81 galaxy group, at a distance of 10 million light years from us. NGC2403 is smaller than our galaxy, being only about 60,000 light years across, which is actually a bit larger than M33.

This image was produced by stacking 13 x 6 minute live stacks of 241 x 1.5 second subs. The dim outskirts of the galaxy need additional exposures to bring them out more. Dim stuff is tough to capture from the edge of the suburbs!
