Description

The Pelican Nebula is an emission nebula located near the bright star Deneb in the constellation Cygnus. You may see a resemblance to a pelican with the yellow being at the back of its head. It is an active star forming region with a particularly active mix of star formation and evolving gas clouds. The young stars in the nebula are illuminating and heating up the cold gas in their vicinity. Unusually dense finger like filaments of cold gas are visible in grey, one of which has two jets emanating from either side of the tip. This is ejected mass from star Herbig-Haro star 555 which resides right at the tip of the filament hidden from view by the dense gas structure feeding it's growth. This was captured over 33hrs on Ha, OIII, SII and RGB filters though my APM107/700 and Atik 460EX camera.
