Description

Photos were taken on the 27th and 28th of August 2022.

LBN 576 (Popped Balloon Nebula) is a faint supernova remnant. It is 10,000 years old and is also about 10,000 light-years distant.  It still glows in visible light by the heat generated by its collision with confining interstellar gas. It is about 100 light-years across.  The Popped Balloon Nebula would appear as large as a full moon if visible to the human eye.
