Description

Jones-Emberson 1 (PK 164+31.1, also known as the Headphone Nebula) is a planetary nebula in Lynx located at a distance of 1600 light years.  It was discovered in 1939 by Rebecca Jones and Richard Emberson on photo plates of the Harvard Observatory.  It is a 13000 year old planetary of about 380 arc seconds and low surface brightness.  The 16.8 magnitude central star is a very blue white dwarf.

Imaged over several nights:  Feb 20, 22, 24; Mar 2, 8, 10, 16, 19-20, 2023.
