Description

I've just received a brand new ALP-T dual-band filter and I was eager to test it. The night of 22 February 2023 seemed promising, unfortunately bad weather, that is persistent in the last 3,5 months now, made me stop when only 4 acceptable sub-exposures were taken.
I decided to process them anyway, without flats, just to see how the filter by and large worked. I got some odd asymmetric halos around a few large stars, probably because the Antlia is not parfocal with my current  Optolong filters, or because the altitude was modest, or because it is particularly sensitive to some tilting I never noted. I do not think it is mirror collimation. Apart from that, the image produced by the filter is clear and contrasty. Diagnosis/advice is welcome.

Just a few words about NGC 2359 also known as Sh2-298 or RCW 5 or Gum4.
Nicknamed Thor's Helmet, this nebula is a wind blown bubble ionised by the Wolf-Rayet star WR 7 (HD 56925). Naturally, with such short exposure, the external arms of the nebula have not been properly captured.
