Description

Hey boys and girls,
After 3 months of bad weather there was finally a way to point the telescope towards the stars again.
And that on my vacation and without a moon!
A dream! 🤩
The choice fell on the Monkey Head Nebular in LRGB.

NGC 2175 is actually an open star cluster with gas nebula and interstellar matter in the northeastern part of the Orion constellation.
The emission nebula IC 2159, which surrounds the star cluster NGC 2175, is also known as Monkey Head Nebula.
The object was probably observed by Giovanni Battista Hodierna before 1654, but this is not certain.
That is why the German astronomer Karl Christian Bruhns is considered the discoverer who observed the object in 1857.
The star cluster with its glowing gas plumes is approximately 5300Lj. removed.

I dedicate this picture to Lars, who repaired my broken filter wheel.🙏

I also tried the new BlueXTerminator tool. A powerful and ingenious tool!

Hope you like my LRGB version of the Monkey Head Nebula? Even if he looks underneath 😅
I just like this representation better.
It was a relief to take a picture again after such a long forced break.
Kind regards and clear sky
Flo
