Description

I apologize for the title. I know that it might have misled you, but it somehow seemed a better fit for the image. Honestly, I have so much to say about this, but can not bring myself to utter a syllable. Perhaps one day when we have a cup of tea together I will speak about it. In the meantime, I hope you like it.

OK. A few words. With all of my images I try and preserve accurate star color whenever possible. It is a personal goal. I usually fail, except in the case of the most prominent stars in a picture. In the case of this image, the most important star is probably the one in the lower right, ξ Cygni. Xi Cygni is a spectroscopic binary composed of a supergiant and small main sequence star. The main sequence in this case is not distinguishable, having been swallowed by the supergiant and poor sampling. The supergiant itself is a K4Ib having a distinctly yellowish tint.

Whatever else you say about this image, I managed to preserve that supergiant's color.
