Description

Another spot on the lunar surface with big attraction for observers, and one of my very favourites. I'm deeply intrigued by the smooth and large and shallow floor of Plato, but more than that, are the several mountain peaks along its eastern rim, that cast sharp needle-like shadows. They look so fierce to me.

Thanks to the lunar sunrise, I could enjoy such a touching landscape where shadows travel tens of kilometers, revealing the  vast diversity of the terrain.

And a few details about Plato:
- Plato is around 109km wide, with a flat floor and missing mountain peak, apparently due to the layer of lava that ran through and completely covered it
- the mountain peaks on the eastern rim of Plato are thought to be between 1.5 and 2km high
- old enough 3.8 billion

I haven't seen "Plato's hook" which is believed to be cast by Gamma Peak, shaping a hook-like bent shadow.
