Description

What an incredible adventure! It took months of planning, traveling, gear testing, weather forecast monitoring, location scouting and just general OCD stress to produce this colorized H-alpha image of the 'Ring of Fire' eclipse, showing prominences, taken from Mariposa Basin Park in Albuquerque, NM.

I'm planning on making a video about the entire adventure to document the challenges, failures, and victories or preparing and shooting the annular eclipse of 2023. I had originally planned to shoot from UNM's Johnson field as they were having a eclipse viewing party with speakers, demos, tips, etc. but then I thought it may interfere with my focus and shooting, and would likely have people wanting to view while I was imaging the peak of annularity so I chose a not-so-well-known city park and it worked out very well. Only one or two other eclipse imagers there and we almost had the field to ourselves until some little league games started up lol. They were no bother fortunately and we all had plenty of space to do our thing! All the time and stress in planning and shooting was finally rewarded with this and several other nice images, plus full HD video of almost the entire eclipse from partial phases through peak and back through partial phases.
