Description

A pair of interacting?? galaxies in Ursa Major, not far from the famous 'Box'.

Not as impressive but quite interesting.

IC749 is a 12th magnitude spiral galaxy (type SAB(rs)cd) in Ursa Major (RA 11 58 33.9, Dec +42 44 03)

Apparent size 2.3 by 2.0 arcmin.

IC 750 is a magnitude 11.9 spiral galaxy (type Sab?) in Ursa Major (RA 11 58 52.0, Dec +42 43 20)

IC 750's recessional velocity of 700 km/sec is too small to yield an accurate Hubble expansion distance, as it corresponds to a distance of less than 35 million light years, much less than redshift-independent distance estimates of 60 to 120 million light years. Given its apparent size of 2.55 by 1.3 arcmin, the Hubble expansion distance yields a size of about 25 thousand light years, which is probably too small for its regular structure. The redshift-independent distance estimates suggest a more reasonable size of 45 to 90 thousand light years.
