Description

NGC 6543 Cat's Eye Nebula.

This beautiful planetary nebula is the remnant of a dying star, about 3000 light years away in the constellation of Draco (The Dragon). The interesting little barred spiral galaxy to the left is NGC 6552, which is a mere 365 million light years away! I'm always amazed at the vast distances we can see with our images.

My first complete image since February due to the weather and a first light test of my new Starizona SCT Corrector. The box did have a label saying "may contain clouds."  What a difference it's made, nice round stars and less vignetting. The star shapes are nearly perfect even in the corners! Back focus appears to be critical, so I used additional 0.5mm spacers to get close to 90.3mm for the C11.

Hoping to get at least one galaxy before the season finishes!

Clear skies!

Tony.
