Description

Also known as NGC 224, the Andromeda Galaxy is the closest major galaxy to Earth at a distance of 2.5 million light-years away. Located in the constellation of Andromeda, it spans a distance of 220,000 light-years and contains about 1 trillion stars.

This image is a 12-panel mosaic taken at 0.56 arc-seconds/pixels. Each panel is an integration of 6 hours for a total of 72 hours.

Taken on September to December 2017 from Campbell, CA, USA. Sky: 18.80 mag/arcsec^2
