Description

M81 (Bode's Galaxy) and M82 (Cigar Galaxy) in HaRGB. To combine the Ha, I added the Ha before the initial image stretch and then applied SPCC for color correction. Later, I had difficulty with StarXterminator taking the Ha bits from M81 with it. To correct for this problem I:
  1. Applied a range mask including both galaxies
  2. Applied a binary mask (inverted) using the GAME script to mask the M81 portion of the range mask
  3. Used pixel math to turn all unmasked pixels to zero: iif($T>0,0,$T)
  4. The remaining mask was a range mask made up of M81 only
  5. Created a clone image
  6. Applied the mask to the image ahead of running StarX
  7. Ran StarX
  8. Processed the clone image (with stars) and starless image separately. The image with stars was processed for the result in the stars.
  9. Used Bill Blanshan's star reduction methods to recombine the images.
