Description

Decided to go ahead and process this data, NGC 2071, a reflection nebula in the Orion constellation. In the lower left is M78 which I imaged last year with the smaller William Optics telescope, that image is here
This data has some issues as it was gathered while I was still troubleshooting some weird spikes on my stars. Turns out the spikes were related to my dew ring which Celestron seems to think has a faulty thermistor.  Figured I would process the data while waiting for the replacement dew ring.  I have some flat issues in the image, primarily a weird artifact on the right-hand side and what appears to be a water spot in the bottom middle.  Some of the stars have football shapes due to some not-so-great data combined with some okay data.  All in all, making slow but steady progress with the new gear, looking forward to galaxy season.

Processing: WBPP with registration, local normalization, and image integration. RBG Masters were combined with Channel Combination, the resultant RGB image was processed using GraXpert for gradient removal. Image coordinates were copied into the resultant image so that SPCC could be run on the RGB image.  SCNR was used to remove the greens followed by BlurXterminator and NoiseXterminator. The image was stretched and combined with the Luminance data.  Luminance was processed with GraXpert as well and had light applications of Blur and Noise Xterminator prior to stretching.  The stretched LRGB image had curves and local histogram equalization applied before a final noise reduction.

First use of the GraXpert tool, worked pretty well in my opinon.
