Description

The so-called Deer Lick group around NGC 7331 is certainly one of the more spectacular late-summer galaxy objects (yes, nights are getting longer), second probably only to Stephan's Quintett. It is also a good long focal length object as it provides detail and coverage of the imaging plane at the same time. It is not a real (i.e. gravitationally bound) group though, as the dominant NGC7331 is in the foreground, while NGC 7335, NGC7336, NGC7337 and NGC7340 are background galaxies some 300 MLy away.

Data were taken on August 12, 13, 18, 20, and 23 2023
