Description

I've never seen so many versions of processing as I have on M27, the Dumbell Nebula. What I can say is there's a consistent backing off of the Ha in many.  This seems to exposes more of the structure.  I tried to strike a balance. The Ha is pretty intense in the stacked frame.  Backing off through stretching helps and of course, masking the noise makes keeping the intensity of the core where it needs to be. Luminosity layers help for highlights.  The thing that struck me was performance of the 9.25 HD with no reducer. Coupled with a Celestron OAG and ASI 174, tracking seemed to bounce just outside the 1 pixel line on occasion and guide stars were abundant. I had been trying to focus through the atmosphere on the Eagle nebula prior to this shot. As soon as I aimed overhead, things really improved my MWHF from about 4 to 2 zoomed to 1:1 in APT.  Focus was as good as my Skywatcher 120 which really says a lot for the Edge. Its worth the effort (and essential) to go through the painstaking process of selecting image train components for this scope.
