Description

There's more going on here than meets the eye.
This is Barnard 175, a Bok globule - the smallest type of dark molecular cloud known and an area of intense star formation. At its tip is VDB152, a reflection nebula which is lit by a star passing through rather than one that formed there.
There is also a faint supernova remnant which is called G110.3+11.3 and this is denoted by the faint red filaments coming from bottom right up to meet VDB152. It has been noted that these SNR filaments are brightest where they approach the Bok globule and therefore it is thought they are interacting on the same plane. More of the SNR can be seen in blue and red at the bottom of the pic.
