Description

First attempt at narrowband. I'm really happy with how this turned out. There's a lot of discussion about how much mileage you get out of narrowband filters with un-modded DSLRs / mirrorless cameras. Mileage will vary, of course, but the Fuji XT3 seems to be capturing a fair amount of the H-alpha emission.

Very little post-processing done on this image beyond the default stretch applied by APP. Did some minor level and curve adjustment, and softened the halo around one of the brighter stars.

The final revision was obtained by extracting the Ha and O-III channels from the RGB image and recombining them using the HOO formula in AstroPixelProcessor. I put a bit more emphasis on the O-III channel which has resulted in a bit more blue showing up in the nebula.

Also learned to balance the mount east heavy. I had to throw out 4 of the first 15 subs. But after re-balancing, putting slightly more weight on the east side of the mount, all the subs were keepers.

Still have a lot to learn but the journey has been great so far!
