Description

This popular large nebula is located ~7500 light years away and seen in the Constellation Cassiopeia. I started this mosaic project as 2 panels then decided to include data from a couple years ago using the same rig as a third panel. It was a bit of a challenge because the old data fit within the boundaries of the current mosaic but was rotated almost 90 degrees. Call it a learning experience and I may well have made a mess of it. Constructive criticism is always appreciated. A favorite part of mine in large images of this nebula is the tiny bright blue ring just above the top-center of the Heart. Sometimes confused as a galaxy by people in their images, this is actually something much more rare. It is a tiny ring-type planetary nebula known as WeBo1. The central star is a binary pair consisting of a very young white dwarf orbiting a very rare K-Type giant Barium Star. I had never heard of a star like that until researching this project.
