Description

Almost anywhere you point a telescope in the Virgo constellation will result in multiple galaxies within your field of view.  Galaxies come in all shapes and sizes.  Each shape is generally identified as a "type".

At the center of this image is NGC4425 (a lenticular galaxy).

Center top is a pair of galaxies known as "The Eyes", or Copeland's Eyes. They are NGC 4435 (barred lenticular galaxy) interacting with NGC 4438.

The right side of the image contains "The Galactic Face" - Two big bright eyes, a nose dot and a mouth.  The right eye is M 84 (giant elliptical galaxy), a part of Markarian's chain of galaxies.  The left eye is M 86 (elliptical galaxy), or Faust V051, also part of Markarian's chain of galaxies. The nose is NGC 4387 (elliptical).  The mouth is NGC 4388, a Barred Spiral).

Above Faust V051 and slightly to the right is NGC 4402 (spiral).

NGC 4413 (barred spiral) is just to the left of the mouth (NGC 4388).

And finally in the lower left of the image are several galaxies NGC 4440 (barred spiral), NGC 4436 (dwarf elliptical), NGC 4431 (lenticular).

There are other much smaller galaxies in this image but lack definition with my limited reach telescope at 840mm.

Imaged with an ASI2600MC camera & Esprit 120ED telescope riding an EQ6r Pro mount.  OAG Guiding with an ASI290mm mini.  Polemaster for precise Polar Alignment.

Cheers!
