Description

The Iris nebula, NGC7023, is also associated with an open cluster with the same designation as well as the open cluster Collinder 427.     The Iris nebula is a beautiful reflection nebula which gets it's energy from a central star HD200775.     The nebula subtends an area of 5 arc minutes which corresponds to a physical diameter of 6 light years at it's distance of 1300 light years.
I've imaged the Iris nebula with an ASI2600MC OSC camera for less than 4 hours.     Given it's a bright object, I still ended up with good details and low relative noise.    I used a TEC140 telescope with Astro-Physics Quad TCC reducer/corrector on an Astro-Physics 1100GTO mount with encoders.    I took 4 minute exposures at Gain 100 to ensure I didn't overly saturate the bright stars.     I did the imaging unguided with only a sky model, as I do most of my imaging now-a-days.
