      Description

Having recently imaged CG4, I was interested to try another Cometary Globule.  I believe this is the 12th image of CG30 on Astrobin so it is much less known than CG4.  I suspect that the faintness of this one is partly to blame.  The Ha isn't too difficult to capture but the RGB is quite recalcitrant.

Much like CG4, the globules seem to glow with Hydrogen emission around the edges and the background field also features hydrogen.   Where I expected to find brownish dust there was actually quite a bit of blue as well.  This blue is consistent with what I see in recent images by Wolfgang Promper and Brian Boyle so I think it is legitimate.

This ESO paper https://www.eso.org/sci/publications/messenger/archive/no.57-sep89/messenger-no57-8-9.pdf details how most all cometary globules are in the Gum Nebula and are arranged in a circle pointing away from the center.  They seem to rest on an ionized bubble.  They also note the Herbig-Haro object you see in the lower right globule.
