Description

Though I have finally almost fully recovered from Covid I did not feel at all like APing for several days in spite of a few hours with clear sky. Actually, I totally lost interest for a while but last night I pulled myself together and played with the CMOS camera. Maybe it were merely the 29°C/44%RH nights that made me feel down. Make sure this won't happen to you. Still no internet since the last double-typhoon. Anyway,

I have hardly any experience with CMOS cameras.

1. The background of the stack is full of running noise. After seeing the stretched master dark with so many hot pixels I do not believe this is due to moving haze. The sensor temperature was 32°C uncooled.

2. While in parallel saving individual frames in FITS format, I found that the live stack shifts (right and top). It looks like a guiding issue but every time the shift is always from top right towards bottom left and to the same amount with respect to the number of frames stacked. This is the minor issue.

I buy any guess.

Taken in parallel with a D5500 and a Samyang 135mm with LPR. 59 x 60 sec at ISO800, 20 darks. Centered on M16.

Now that I have EQMOD running smoothly including plate solving with SharpCap and ASTAP I do hope to gather more experience with the CMOS camera. There seem to be a lot of sweet candies hidden inside this combination (once the running noise issue is addressed).
