Description

First light with my new EQ6-Ri Pro. Only 30 minutes of data here, but it was a good test.

I'm not overly happy with how the stars ended up looking with my processing, still working on that. I put in far too many hours messing with this in Pixinsight trying to overcome data limitations the best I could.

The Canon 100-400 used produced a TON of nasty aberration shooting wide open @5.6. Going forward I'm going to stop that down to 6.3 or 7.1 and see how it does. It's also adapted to a Sony E mount body which I believe was causing a fair amount of tilt from the adapter having slight movement in it. Regardless, every night out is a valuable learning experience and I'm looking forward to collecting more subs for this (just as soon as the 37th "atmospheric river" of the year is gone, again).

Something interesting of note is that this is combined Sony ARW and FIT files. Lights and darks were shot with the ASIAIR Plus tethered to a Sony DSLR producing FIT files. Flat, Dark Flat and Bias were shot on body only in ARW format. When these were stacked with DeepSkyStacker in to a TIFF, Pixinsight did not like it very much. Trying to run a soft stretch with EZ Processing Suite would cause the script to hang indefinitely and break Pixinsight in odd ways. I instead ran all the data through WBPP with default settings which solved the issue. I am curious what the deal is there. Sony compatibility is a new development for the ASIAIR so it could be related to that somehow. Or maybe the mixing of data formats and varying debayering needs.
