Description

Sh2-132, as designated in the Sharpless catalog, is a relatively faint emission nebula located approximately 10,000 lightyears distant in the constellation Cepheus the King. As we often visualise objects when viewing cloud formations in our earthly sky, some see a lion in this celestial cloud with the head to the upper left and the body, legs, and tail extending to the right. An obscuring dark lane of dust and gas is located in the "head of the lion" and appears to form the lion's facial features.

This is my first project with over 10 hours of data. And the most challenging to process. Fortunately for me, there were a lot of inspirations such as @Cosgrove's Cosmos (Patrick Cosgrove)'s or @Jim Raskett's takes on this beautiful object - here and here.

You can also check my processing log.
