Description

In this astrophotography image, I present the remarkable celestial phenomenon known as the Cygnus Loop (Sharpless 103), an extensive supernova remnant nestled within the boundaries of the Cygnus constellation. This intriguing astronomical formation reveals itself as an emission nebula, impressively spanning nearly 3 degrees across the night sky, signifying its colossal scale and celestial significance.

Drawing attention to the visual portion of the Cygnus Loop, I showcase the captivating Veil Nebula. This exquisite nebular complex comprises several distinct components. They are the Western Veil, also referred to as the Witch's Broom, the Eastern Veil and Pickering's Triangle.

This two panel HOO mosaic (my first!) allowed me to capture the intricate details and the full extent of the Cygnus Loop and its stunning Veil Nebula in a cohesive and seamless portrayal. I've also spent some time capturing RGB stars (60 second exposures) for final composition.
