The poor weather conditions did not allow me to make an image of Saturn on 27-08-2023, the very day of its opposition, the ideal moment to reveal the Seeliger effect.This happens when, during opposition, the rings reflect back a greater amount of sunlight by mirror effect, they are brighter.Nevertheless, the image of 23-08-2023 already shows a significant increase in brightness.To better highlight this phenomenon, I made an animation with the image taken on 23-07-2023 and my last one on 23-08-2023, so one month apart to the day.

Les mauvaises conditions méteos ne m’ont pas permis de réaliser une image de Saturne le 27-08-2023, jour même de son opposition, moment idéal pour révéler l’effet Seeliger.Cela ce produit quand, lors de l’opposition, les anneaux nous renvoie une plus grande quantité de lumière solaire par effet miroir, ils sont plus brillants.Néanmoins, l’image du 23-08-2023 montre déjà une augmentation significative de luminosité.Pour mieux mettre en évidence ce phénomène, j’ai réalisé une animation avec l’image prise le 23-07-2023 et ma dernière du 23-08-2023, donc à un mois d’intervalle jour pour jour.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
