Description

It is uncommon to find high resolution color images of this rare planetary nebula called KjPn 8 .

Here then is another attempt at a narrowband object and like the previous I worked on (Squid Nebula, OU4)- this object is virtually equal in difficulty. I hope you enjoy seeing this, actually quite large PNe, zoomed in for perhaps the first time!

The Wikipedia page on this object (sans a *nice* color picture) is full of good information. It was likely formed by a binary star system in which each star died at nearly the same time to form this bipolar nebula. Note the inner bright hour-glass of one axis and the outer larger tubular form. There is even a tiny spiral like thing (center/core) where they share an envelope of gas. Based on measurements this object is around 4,000-5000 light years away and it has taken less than 10,000 years to do all of this
.
Special thanks to Josep Drudis for providing the OIII data.

P.S. The original data (Ha and RGB(stars)) has been on my machine for more than a decade (2011)). The addition of the OIII data plus my attempts at creating instructional videos motivated me to finally putting something together from this data (as I always intended to do).

Title: KjPn 8 (better contrast)

Description: I couldn't take it anymore. I think I made a major error. Although the reality is that this planetary has a very low contrast... I just needed to add more. So... this is it, my final "revision."
