Description

M100 Spiral Galaxy

Description:
- The M100 spiral galaxy is 52 million light years away.
- The galaxy's diameter is approx. 92,300 light years. The MIlky Way is approx. 105,000 light years across.
- There are also a number of other galaxies captured in the image, including NGC4328, NGC4322, which are between 30 and 90 million light years away.

Details:
- Captured on 05-Apr-22.
- Celestron Edge 11 (280mm aperture, focal length 2800mm, f/10), ZWO ASI1600MM Pro camera (cooled to -10 DegC),
- EQ8Rh Pro mount, ASIair.
- 5x 600sec captures of each of Red, Green and Blue images, using Astrodon filters (2.5 hours).
- 15x 600sec Darks, 30x Flats, 30x Flat Darks, 30x Bias.
- Processed in PixInsight.
- Image size and resolution reduced for Facebook
