Description

ngc 7640 is a barred spiral galaxy in the constellation Andromeda. It is situated approximately 25 - 30 million light years from Earth and has a diameter of about 90 thousand light years. At about the same distant, but much smaller, is spiral galaxy ugc 12588. Both galaxies show signs of active star formation, which is why I collected H-alpha data.
I haven't found any other amateur image, which includes H-alpha. For some reason most people seem not to bother with H-alpha on any but the most popular galaxies.
