NGC3718 is 45M ly, and 3729 is 65M ly.

It appears NGC3729 may have passed through 3718 at one time, causing both to loose their equallibrium. Looks as though 29 was the overall loser. But 18 was totally distorted by the encounter and hasn't yet recovered.

Hickson Compact Group 56, the five entangled galaxies in the upper right, are 450M ly. distant. All five galaxies are playing do-si-do as their gravities cannibalize each others' material.
