Description

Messier 33 (M 33) is a spiral galaxy located about 3 million light-years away in the triangle-shaped constellation Triangulum.  M 33 is about half the size of our Milky Way galaxy and is the third largest member of the Local Group of Galaxies.

Areas of rapid star birth are scattered throughout the M 33. According to NASA the Triangulum galaxy's star formation rate is about ten times higher than what is found in the Andromeda galaxy.
