Description

The Sun in H-alpha on April 8, 2022 featuring a really nice arch prominence.

Imaged with a Lunt LS50Tha (with feathertouch focuser and ZWO EAF), Lunt LS50C compact double stack filter, 2.5x Televue Powermate, ZWO ASI290MM. Imaging train was configured to give ~F/18. Image capture using Firecapture. Stacking in AutoStakkert3 (best 25% of 1000 frames).   Processed in ImPPG (sharpening).  Prom image generated from surface image using tone curves adjustment in ImPPG.  Colorized using Solar Live View.

Original version:  Prominence image processed using ImPPG and Solar Live View.  Playing around with ImPPG I figured out how to use tone curve adjustments to bring out proms from a standard 'surface' aka chromosphere image.

Rev B:  Prominence image processed using ImPPG.  Playing around with ImPPG I also figured out how to black out the disk.  I've seen some great images that appear to use this technique but wasn't able to re-create the effect until now.

Rev C:  Prominence image shot using typical long exposure approach and sharpened in Registax6.  This is my standard approach for generating prom images.
