Description

H(HO)) version of the crescent area in Cygnus. For my green layer, combined 75% O3 and 25% Ha to give more of a orange appearance which I prefer in HOO data sets. I used a pseudo luminance layer of the max signal of both the Ha and O3 with deconvolution and addition sharpening.

HOO processing is always a little different. While still a false color image, stars can be a challenge. For this image, I combined per above, stretched the image, used SCNR, and then used photometric color calibration on a stretched image. I didn't even know it would work on a stretched image, but the results really made the stars look a lot of better.

The Crescent Nebula is an emission nebula in the constellation of Cygnus. The center star is a super hot Wolf-Rayet star that is shedding a sun mass of every material every 10K years in solar winds that is colliding with outer envelope of the star when it became a red giant. The solar winds compress the gas and cause it to emit the colored nebula we can visualize. The nebula is in our own Milky Way about 4.8K light years away. The nebula itself measures an estimated 25 light years across.

The Soap Bubble Nebula is a small planetary nebula first found in 2007 by armature astronomer  Dave Jurasevich.
