Description

I captured this image 2-3 days after opposition.  Saturn was not far from crossing the meridian, but still only ~32 degrees above the horizon. The sky was clear and both the transparency and seeing were average - or perhaps a bit below.  Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised at the result. The skies here have been lousy for weeks. I think the ADC helped, and maybe just some luck during the "lucky imaging"  technique used to record the ~3.5 minute video that formed the basis of this image.  I used a very old University Optics 2x barlow and then the ADC, so the resulting f-ratio was something above 20 - maybe around 25. I engaged the 5x button in BackYard EOS.

I stacked the best 25% of the 5,250 frames (1,312), sharpened the result using Registax wavelets, then finished processing in Photoshop and Photoshop Elements.
