Description

I decided late last year to give myself a challenge and see if I could capture the Flying Bat and Squid nebulae with DSLRs, I used a combination of an Ha-modded 5DII/Canon 500mm f/4L with an IDAS NBZ filter, an Ha-modded 60D/Radian 61 with a Optolong l-eNhance filter,, a mono-modded 60D/Radian 61 with an AstronomikEOS12nm Ha clip filter, and a stock 7DII/Canon 300mm f/4L. Cameras were controlled by individual intervelometers. The 500mm f/4 and Radian 61 were double-mounted side-by-side on my CEM40, and the 300mm f/4 was on my CEM25. Temperatures were in the single digits to teens F, which helped with noise control. It came out better than I expected, although I plan to go back this year and capture some more subs to hopefully improve the results. The OIII data from the l-eNhance filter was discarded because it did not show any detail in the Squid; the Squid didn't even show up in a 2 1/2 hour stack of 3 minute subs.
