Description

I wanted to test the practicality of using high ISOs for solar astrophotography to get very fast shutter speeds for sharpness handheld. My previous test at ISO 1600 worked out very well:

I wanted to take it a step further and test with the highest ISO my camera allows which is 6400. I took 90 images handheld with image stabilization on. I stacked them and processed them in Siril and the results were very good. The difference between a single shot and the final processed image is like night and day. The slight darkening at lower right is due to the fact that I was shooting the Sun when it was still low on the horizon through some trees. It's good to know that even with the highest ISO and when the Sun is very low, good images can still be obtained. Departing sunspots AR3615 and AR3619 can be seen on the right in the processed image stack.
