Description

This is a 2 panel mosaic image of IC1805 the heart nebula, another popularly imaged winter target.

It is in a rare NHH bi-color palette, giving a combination of pinkish and cyan color, which I really like.

The Oiii signal is pretty weak throughout the nebula except at the region near melotte 15 and the fishhead nebula at the tip of the heart, and cannot be properly imaged under Bortle 9 sky in Seoul, even with the 3nm filters.
On targets with absurdly weak Oiii compared to Ha, I experiment on using the Nii filter instead and do NHH bi-color or do SNH tri-color imaging.
Sii, Nii, and Ha all show much stronger signals than Oiii under light pollution, so better overall SNR and much deeper and prevalent blue colors in NHH and SNH color palette.
To me, this seems to be the best way to make pretty and colorful pictures of them.

NHH palette usually results in somewhat pinkish to brownish "red" color, and cyan to nile green "green/blue" color, and the result really depends on how you edit.
I like the comination of pink and cyan in my NHH pictures, so I usually aim for that color tone.
And fortunately, this target really shows those colors just from the unlinked stretch of the stacked images from the start, so no channel mixing or hue control was done on this picture.
The only thing that control the colors are the stretching of each channel.
I think it turned out quite nicely, and also fit for the topic, too. A pinkish heart!

It was taken some years ago, before I bought pixinsight, and before the emergence of powerful AI editing tools, so I decided to redo the whole processing with my 'modernized' skills.
Sadly, I found only a small difference between the one I edited back then and the one I edited now, except for the obvious effects from the modern AI tools such as BXT or NXT.

Thanks for coming in and having a look!
