Description

One of the most iconic target galaxy for the astrophotographers, M51 (or NGC5194) lies about 25 millions light years away in Canes Venatici. It is gravitationnaly interacting with the small galaxy NGC5195. It was discovered by Charles Messier on October 13, 1773, while its companion galaxy NGC5195 was discovered by Pierre Mechain on 1781.
