Description

The first globular cluster to be added to the Messier catalogue, M2 is located about 37,000 light-years from Earth in the constellation Aquarius, it was discovered by Franco-Italian astronomer Giovanni Domenico Maraldi on September 11, 1746 while observing with Jacques Cassini a comet.
