Description

Imaged Saturn in OSC RGB and IR on the night of August 3, 2022 (August 4th in UTC) under average to good seeing and transparency.  This was my first Saturn image of 2022 captured a little over a week before opposition on August 14th.  The ring tilt is noticeably decreased from the last time I imaged just under a year ago with much more of the southern hemisphere now visible.  I can see hints of the amazing blue coloration in the southern hemisphere that folks are capturing with more able imaging rigs...

Imaged with a C8 Evo, ZWO ADC, Baader UV-IR Cut and 685nm IR pass filters, and ZWO ASI224MC. Imaging train was configured to give me ~F/20. Image capture using Firecapture with gain set at 350 and an exposure of 27.5 ms (for RGB using UV-IR cut filter) and 30 ms (for IR pass filter). Stacking in AutoStakkert3 (best 10% of ~10,000 frames captured over 240 seconds). Color balancing and Wavelet sharpening in Registax6. De-rotated and combined 3 images from each filter in Winjupos.
