After nearly 2 months of poor weather, I finally had the opportunity to scratch the AP itch once again. It was just before midnight, and i was getting ready to head to bed when i stuck my head out the door and saw that the depressing clouds had lifted and left behind a pretty darn clear night. So, being a weekend, and not wanting to waste the first bit of clear sky in a long while, i pushed through and go the rig setup in the backyard.
I chose the Rosette Nebula because i was never happy with my
previous rendition, and it's been on my list to capture again for a good long while, plus this is the first real image with my new Takahashi FSQ-106ED.
I've got designs to continue with this target in a 3x1 vertical panorama. Since first learning of it's secondary name as the "Flaming Skull Nebula" I've been wanting to accentuate that aspect.
