Description

M27, Dumbbell Nebula, (also cataloged NGC6853), is a planetary nebula in the constellation Vulpecula. 
M27´s central white dwarf is the collapsed core of a formerly sunlike star which, after exhausting its hydrogen fuel, become a red giant and ejected its outer layers.
Spectroscopic observations indicate that the nebula has an expansion velocity of 31 Km/sec.
It has a Visual Magnitude of +7.09 ; apparent size of 8.0 x 5.7 arcmin and is at a distance of approx. about 1,400 light-years from Earth.
