Description

This image was taken from my back yard which is a relatively light polluted site (SQM~=18.5).  I tracked the comet core in an attempt to get better detail in the various structures of the comet but probably should have used a longer exposure time to really accomplish this.  I made other attempts on subsequent nights by tracking on the star field to see what that approach would yield.

C/2022 E3 (ZTF) is a non-periodic comet from the Oort cloud that was discovered by the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) on 2 March 2022. The comet has a bright green glow around its nucleus, due to the effect of sunlight on diatomic carbon and cyanogen.
