Description

M27 - Dumbbell Nebula. This is my “First Light” image with my new Stellina electronically assisted telescope by Vaonis. Some of you may be thinking, “Wait! Didn’t he just get an eVscope 2 last spring?” Yes. Yes I did.

I recently attended the Okie-Tex Star Party my club sponsors in the panhandle of Oklahoma every fall and a lady from Colorado had a Stellina. Comparing the two telescopes was fun, and I really liked the Stellina. No, I’m not selling my eVscope, I still really really like it too. But there are enough differences between the two that I immediately ordered a Stellina when I got home. I’ll be using both of them in the future. Both have strengths, and weaknesses, and they compliment each other nicely! I now love them both!

My First Light image with the Stellina was taken at Windsurfer Point, Lake Hefner, Oklahoma City, OK, USA, on the evening of 9-10 October, 2022. Conditions were marginal to poor. Full moon, windy with gusts to 15mph, 66F, 66% humidity, a bad Bortle 9. But I couldn’t wait to try it out, so went out anyway. And got a really nice image of the Dumbbell Nebula! Yay! Will post more images with the Stellina shortly.
