Description

During the last minute before full eclipse the Sun's very thin crescent shape caused strange shadows under a nearby tree. The branches  were still without leaves but the shadows on the concrete pavement below took on a very artistic look. It was like an artist used thin brush strokes to create a scene of a birch-bark tree. The sun's crescents combined to create an almost 3-D effect. Marj Christen took this I-phone image just before totality when the light was starting to really fade fast.
