Description

First light with the FLT132!

Well, technically this was the second night of imaging, but the first night uncovered a tilt problem I needed to solve (the focuser rotation set screws were a bit too loose). I decided not to stack that data even thought it was pretty good, especially in the middle.

I'm interested in opinions about the stars around the edges here. In the raw data they didn't quite look perfect to me, but in the final image they look pretty good. Maybe I've been staring at them too long. I did end up tweaking the back focus on the Flat 8 a little further out than William Optics states. I may go another half millimeter further. (I think it may have to do with the fact that the newer FLT132s like mine are f/6.9 instead of f/7.)

I believe this is my first fully processed close-up of the Tadpoles. I've shot Ha only before, and I have a decent wider field view that includes this, the Flaming Star, and a few other nearby objects. I thought this would be a good test for the new glass.
