Description

This image is presented in the correct visual orientation when observing near the meridian, above Polaris. 

Data initially acquired while camping in 2019 at Alafia State Park (Florida, USA), using an Espirit 100 and stock 6D. You can see the image from that single session here. I added several more hours from dark rural skies (Georgia, USA) last week using a SharpStar 61EDPH viii with 0.75x reducer paired with an ASI294mc Pro, and an Askar FRA300 paired with an ASI071mc Pro. Both of these smaller refractors had an IDAS HEUIB II filter present, which provides about a 20nm Ha bandpass. 

Post processing: Calibration, stacking with 2x drizzle, and gradient removal was done with AstroPixelProcessor, followed by green cast extraction in Siril, with final color calibration and work finished in Photoshop 2024. The goal was to try and bring out some of the faint IFN and hydrogen alpha molecular clouds that are present in this area. I did not use Starnet or other tone mapping process to over stretch the background nebulosity. 

I am considering maying getting a few more hours of sub exposures to improve the faint SNR for the IFN & molecular clouds.
